Playwright Alan Parker's 'Bugsy Malone' script is unique in the genre of a children's spoof of the 1920's & 30's gangster films.  One of its many endearing aspects is its tapestry of of endearing, bumbling characters:  Fat Sam, Dandy Dan, Smolsky, Knuckles, Tullulah, Blousey, Fizzy, Leroy, Shoulders & many others.
Developed from an initial idea of his eldest son the film version of 'Bugsy Malone' first screened in 1975 & adapted for stage  eight years later (1983).  With wonderfully crafted songs & musical score by Paul Williams it has proved so popular that at any time, somewhere, there is a current stage presentation of 'Bugsy Malone'.  We're sure you'll enjoy Beaumaris Theatre's staging!

Meet below some of our wonderfully talented young cast:

Jayden White
After 6 years of tap and jazz, 1 year of ballet and 2 years of singing, Jayden is currently attending the Vic College of the Arts studying dance (VCASS) year 7.
He has performed for 2 years with the Young Australian Broadway Show Chorus and has done TV commercials and extra work in TV series.  He has also had several leading roles in Eisteddfods, and dreams of becoming the next (taller) Tom Cruise!  After seeing his performance as Bugsy, we think you will agree he has a very good chance!

Claire Meath
For 10 years Claire has been involved in dance - ballet, jazz, modern. This is her first singing performance but she has played in many productions including "Fiddler on the Roof".  She is currently preparing for her grade 4 drama exam.  If her performance as Blousey Brown is any indication, she should do very well indeed!

Roland Braché
Now 15, Roland began his career in theatre by joining BYTE which was run by George Iliakis.  In grade 6 he played one of 3 lead roles in the musical "The Prince’s Pursuit".  He didn’t do any acting until his involvement with Beaumaris Theatre’s production of "Olivia Twist" in which he played the Artful Dodger.  He has met a lot of great people through these plays, and would love to do drama and acting when he’s older, on TV and in movies.  He hopes you enjoy the show – we know you will enjoy seeing Roland as much as we have enjoyed having him in the cast.

Alexandra Ross
This is Alex’s first lead role in a Beaumaris Theatre production.  Her love for theatre and singing started in year 5 and since then she has performed for the Victorian State Singers, had coaching for screen acting, performed in many productions with lead and chorus parts, and entered in Eisteddfods.  Alex hopes her passion for the theatre will lead her into a professional career - we think you will agree there is every chance of this happening!

Austin Giordano
Born in 1992, Austin has appeared in school productions of "Peter Pan" and "Captain Scrimshan", and had the lead role of Deadalus in the "Story of Deadalus".  He loves acting and being on stage, and obviously enjoys his role of Fizzy.  We know you will enjoy his performance too.

William Mosley
William was born on July 1st 1990.  He has been to 6 schools, and in his first year alone he went through 3 schools and managed to finish grade 1!  He is currently in Year 7 at Brighton Grammar School.  The first play he was in was "Pharlap" at his kindergarten.  His job was to tell the audience who the actors were, but as he had never practiced what he had to do, he just sat there til the show was over!  William has acted in many parts since, including a part of the chorus in a “Kidsummer Night’s Dream”.  In addition to “Bugsy” he is currently rehearsing a play for his school called "The Alchemist".  We are very pleased indeed that William is a part of this production, and know you will be too.
