I was delighted to hear
that the Beaumaris Theatre Company are staging a
production of ‘Secondary Cause of Death’, particularly as I understand that
this follows a recent production of ‘Murdered to Death’.
Both plays were written as a
light hearted spoof of "all things Agatha
Christie". When I originally wrote ‘Murdered to Death’ I was uncertain
as to how it would be received ...... I thought
that perhaps the time for this type of play had passed. How wrong can you
be! The popularity of the play has proved that there is a wide spectrum of
people who enjoy the blend of ‘whodunit / comedy / mystery / spoof’. So
much so that I wrote the sequel which you are now about to see.
Although the play draws on a
range of stereotypically ‘English’ characters, laughter has no geographical
boundaries. If it makes you, the audience, scratch your head, laugh and
even occasionally wince, then Pratt has done his
job!
I wish Beaumaris Theatre
Company every success with the production.
Warmest regards,
Peter Gordon
