The following are brief
descriptions of the characters in the play
- Jo:
Second-oldest March sister. Outspoken and has a passion for writing.
Her bold nature often gets her into trouble.
- Meg: The oldest sister. Somewhat vain about her looks. She is
the most responsible and helps run the household in her mother's
absence.
- Beth: Second-youngest sister. She is docile and shy to a fault;
she is home schooled due to her chronic shyness.
- Amy: The youngest sister. A talented artist, in her youth she is
vain and spoiled and is inclined to throw tantrums when things do not
go her way.
- Marmee: The girls' mother and head of household while her husband
is away.
- Aunt Josephine March: Mr. March's aunt, a rich widow who lives alone in her
mansion.
- Aunt Carrol: Sister of Mr. March who travels with Amy and Aunt March to Europe.
- Theodore "Laurie": A charming, playful, and rich young man who lives next-door
to the March family with his overprotective grandfather.
- John Brooke: While a tutor to Laurie, he courts Meg. Seen as a bit of a
boring prospect for Meg.
- Sally Gardiner: Wealthy friend of Meg's. The Gardiners believe in marriage
for money and position.
- Professor Bhaer: A poor German immigrant who was famous in Berlin but now
lives in a boarding house and tutors the landlady's children.
- Belle Moffat: Sally's rich friend.
- Ned Moffat: Belle's dull brother.
- Fred Vaughn: From London, Belle fancies him but he fancies Meg.
