Robyn Leslie Morris was born on 24th September 1952 and passed peacefully, surrounded by her precious family on the 4th July 2026.
She lived her 73 years to the fullest and enjoyed a remarkable life full of love, family, creativity, theatre, travel and enjoying her many passions.
Before coming to Beaumaris Theatre in 2002 she had an illustrious theatrical career as an actor, director and stage manager with Blackwater Little Theatre, Noosa Arts Theatre, ACE Theatre, KPR Revue, Southern Cross, RATS, Waverly, MLOC and Malvern Theatre.
Robyn’s first show at Beaumaris Theatre was Ladies Who Lunch and she had found her new theatrical home and went on to tread the boards in Secondary Cause of Death, Blackrock, Beaumaris Theatre’s 50th Anniversary Christmas Panto Revue, Cosi, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Fabulous Beaumaris Theatre Xmas Revue, Charlotte’s Web, Dimboola- (Anonymous Theatre), Peter Pan and Fawlty Towers (2009, 2011, 2015).
Robyn made her Beaumaris directorial debut in 2008 with The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ followed by Paramatta Girls in 2009, To Kill a Mockingbird in 2012, Death by Fatal Murder in 2017 and They Came from Mars and Landed Outside the Farndale Avenue Church Hall in Time for the Townswomen's Guild's Coffee Morning in 2020.
Onstage, Robyn was consummate actor and performer turning her hand to comedy with perfect comedic timing and in dramas, conveying serious emotional stories with heart and soul and in our family shows and pantomimes playing lovable anthropomorphic characters with great gusto.
As a director, Robyn was excellent and relished all the challenges and joys of storytelling for the stage. She was a wonderful and respected leader, a very good listener and she took scripts and brought them to stage by insightfully and gently guiding her actors and crews through the dramatic process, developing believable characters and subtle nuances and created a safe and trusting place for everyone to explore their emotions and bring out their very best.
Robyn said her most ambitious undertaking was To Kill a Mockingbird, but it was such a rewarding experience for her and one she always cherished.
Robyn joined the Beaumaris Theatre Committee in 2003 and became our treasurer in 2004. She was very active and hands on in every aspect of the theatre from working bees, set builds, props, costumes, auditions, front of house and everything in between and she worked tirelessly to make sure Beaumaris was a professional, welcoming and happy place for all our thespians.
As our treasurer, with exceptional financial know how and skill, she managed our money and assets prudently and cautiously for an exceedingly impressive twenty years which gave us the security and resources to cover expenses and budgets and achieve our goals.
In 2013, Robyn was absolutely delighted and thrilled to be awarded with Life Membership of her beloved Beaumaris Theatre.
Robyn’s strength and fighting spirit has always been admired and she is and always will be an inspiration to us all. She’s left a lasting legacy through her passion and deep love for theatre and she was famous for her delectable pavlovas, but most of all, her kindness and friendship is what we will always remember and treasure most.
We send our love our and support to Steve, James, Bianca, Shaun, Lara, Carrie, Sue and her gorgeous 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
