Reflections on Beaumarisical

by Debbie Keyt

Beaumarisical was delightfulical!

When the extremely talented and charming Danny Forward pitched the idea of celebrating 20 years of musicals and original music to us and asked me to direct the special anniversary tribute concert extravaganza I was chuffed and so excited to work on such a fun theatrical project.

It was such a pleasure to work alongside Danny once again after such a long time and Rhonda, Camilla and I were so very privileged to bring Danny’s nostalgic vision to glorious life.

It was a joy to choose the best songs from our favourite musicals and especially to hear Danny’s heart-stirring and clever original compositions come alive in all their splendour once more.

We were all excited to hand-pick our extraordinary cast who are all as lovely as they are talented and rehearsals were so enjoyable and uplifting.

If that wasn’t enough, our exceptional technical team led by Adam Solomon and Damien Calvert created tech wizardry that took our performers and audience alike on a magical journey.

It was such an incredible coup to reunite Courtney Smyth, Jodie Symes, Jamie Burgess and Damien Calvert from the acclaimed I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change for an encore performance.

Our season was quite simply magnificent and every song was a treat and our audiences adored the show and our cast entertained them with phenomenal passion and aplomb ~ bravo to Amelia, Amy, Bek, Candice, Shelley, Damien, Dan, Josh and Nick.

We were blessed with an outstanding band too ably led by Danny himself with Adeline Han on keyboard and Keith Morgan on drums and percussion.

Beaumarisical was a 70th Anniversary gift to our cherished and treasured Beaumaris Theatre family and the pleasure was truly ours.
